Vector Institute Announces Inaugural AI Scholarship Recipients and Upcoming 2019 Applications
The Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence has officially announced the recipients of its inaugural Vector Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence. This merit-based initiative aims to recognize promising AI talent within Ontario and support the recruitment of top students into master’s programs designed to prepare graduates for the workforce. The first cohort consists of 66 distinguished students selected from nine Ontario universities, enrolled in twenty different master’s programs covering core-technical and complementary AI-related fields. Beyond financial support, scholarship recipients gain early access to valuable networking and internship opportunities with Vector’s industry sponsors, which are leading companies in AI adoption across Canada. Building on the success of this initial round, the Institute plans to launch the 2019-20 scholarship competition early in 2019. These scholarships, alongside internships and recognized academic programs, form the foundation of Vector’s new RAISE initiative. This program serves as a catalyst for local AI workforce development, supported by the Province of Ontario.
