UnionPay International has announced a strategic partnership with WeChat Pay to facilitate cross-border payments for international users. This collaboration allows holders of specific overseas digital wallets, including BoC Pay, Octopus, PayMe, and Tap & Go in Hong Kong, as well as services in Thailand, South Korea, and Malaysia, to make payments in China by scanning WeChat Pay QR codes. The system automatically converts local currencies into Chinese yuan, enhancing convenience for foreign visitors. This initiative coincides with a significant policy update from China's National Immigration Administration, which has extended the visa-free transit stay for foreign visitors from previous limits to 240 hours (10 days).
