Udupi DC Urges Public Participation in Gyan Bharatam Manuscript Preservation Mission

T.K. Swaroopa, the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi, has called upon residents to collaborate with the administration in preserving historical manuscripts and documents through the Union government-sponsored Gyan Bharatam mission. During a meeting held at the district office complex in Manipal-Udupi, Ms. Swaroopa emphasized the ongoing digitization efforts aimed at permanently safeguarding India's cultural heritage using modern technology. She announced that a nationwide survey is currently underway to collect old handwritten texts and documents. Citizens are encouraged to participate by directly uploading their materials via the Gyan Bharatam mobile application or by providing information so that official surveyors can visit them for collection. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that this initiative will make Karnataka's rich cultural legacy accessible to the public through a unified national platform. She specifically appealed to universities, museums, religious monasteries, organizations, and individual citizens to document and submit their manuscripts. To mark the occasion and raise awareness, a promotional poster for the mission was officially released. This effort represents a significant step towards digital archiving and the preservation of historical records in the region.
