Two Indian Ophthalmologists Win Awards at ASCRS Film Festival

Two ophthalmologists from Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospitals in Chennai, India, have received international recognition at the 44th Film Festival of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) held in Washington D.C. Dr. Athiya Agarwal, Director of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, secured the first prize for her educational film titled 'Pearls of Iris Repair.' The film demonstrates the 'Pinhole Pupilloplasty' technique, an innovative iris repair method that enhances visual quality by restricting light entry to central rays. Additionally, Dr. Soosan Jacob, Director and Chief of Dr. Agarwals Refractive and Cornea Foundation, was awarded the runner-up prize for her surgical video presentation, 'Rebubbling in Keratoplasty.' Her work highlights the critical role of rebubbling, a procedure designed to ensure proper adherence of transplanted corneal layers post-surgery.
