Two Arrested with MDMA and Ganja in Thiruvananthapuram

Excise officials in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, have arrested two individuals suspected of trafficking narcotics to tourists. The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Jishnu from Kasaragod and 36-year-old Sahalu Rahman from Malappuram, were intercepted during a vehicle inspection near Vizhinjam on Thursday evening. Authorities recovered 51 grams of MDMA concealed in a bag and 2.6 grams of ganja from the accused, who were traveling in a rented car from Ernakulam. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth approximately ₹3.5 lakh in the illegal market. Investigators suspect that the duo targeted visitors at popular tourist destinations such as Kovalam and Poovar to peddle these drugs. In addition to the narcotics, the mobile phones used by the accused were confiscated to aid further investigation into their network and activities. This arrest highlights ongoing efforts by local excise teams to curb drug trafficking in high-traffic tourist areas within the region.
