Two Arrested in U.P.'s Bijnor for Alleged Terror Links with Saudi Arabia and South Africa

Police in Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested two individuals in separate cases linked to alleged anti-national activities and foreign terror connections. Circle Officer Anjani Kumar Chaturvedi confirmed that one suspect, Sameer, was apprehended in Najibabad for maintaining contact with handlers based in Saudi Arabia and South Africa via Instagram. These foreign contacts, identified as Aqib and Majul, are accused of attempting to recruit Indian youths to establish a terror network, engage in anti-national acts, and sabotage railway infrastructure. During interrogation, Sameer confessed that Aqib had been inciting him toward these activities. Two other suspects, Uvaid and Jalal, were previously detained in connection with the investigation. Lookout notices have been issued for the foreign suspects residing in Saudi Arabia and South Africa. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts by local authorities to disrupt potential terror recruitment networks operating through social media platforms. The case is being treated seriously due to the international dimensions and the specific intent to target critical infrastructure within India.
