TVK Chief Vijay’s Campaign Draws Massive Crowds, Halting Traffic in Chennai

C. Joseph Vijay, the president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and a prominent actor, conducted a high-profile election campaign roadshow in Chennai on Wednesday, drawing enormous crowds that brought parts of south Chennai to a standstill. Despite not speaking during the procession, Vijay waved to supporters from his vehicle as it traversed key constituencies including T. Nagar, Egmore, and Thousand Lights. Spontaneous gatherings of admirers and party workers lined the streets, with many running towards the convoy to greet him, necessitating frequent police intervention to clear paths and ensure the vehicle's movement. Vijay was accompanied by party general secretary N. Anand and local candidates J.C.D. Prabhakar and Raj Mohan, who rotated positions on the vehicle. The campaign route extended from Nandanam Metro through Bazullah Road to Valluvar Kottam. Although a planned stop in Egmore was skipped due to the overwhelming response, Vijay continued to engage with the public by throwing flowers and waving until the day's campaign concluded.
