Torch Relay Held in Tirunelveli to Promote 100% Voter Turnout

In Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, District Collector and District Election Officer R. Sukumar received a ceremonial torch on Thursday as part of a campaign to encourage 100 percent voter participation in the upcoming elections scheduled for April 23. The torch relay traversed all five Assembly constituencies within the district: Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram, Palayamkottai, Nanguneri, and Radhapuram. A total of 125 volunteers, with 25 assigned to each segment, carried the torch through these areas to appeal to the electorate to exercise their franchise and strengthen electoral democracy. Upon receiving the torch at the Tirunelveli Junction bus stand, Dr. Sukumar administered a poll pledge to the participants. Beyond promoting voting, the initiative also aimed to raise awareness among parents about protecting children from drug abuse. This event highlights local administrative efforts to boost civic engagement and address social issues simultaneously through community-driven activities.
