Three Arrested in Kerala for Forging Organ Donation Documents

Police in Ernakulam, Kerala, have arrested three individuals suspected of involvement in an organ trafficking network through the forgery of medical and legal documents. The accused, identified as Sunny Varghese, his wife Sini Varghese, and Sanoj K.P., were taken into custody following a tip-off that led to the suo motu registration of cases. Three other suspects, including primary accused Najeeb Kallatra, remain absconding. Investigations reveal that the group forged letterheads, seals, and signatures of doctors from two major hospitals in Ernakulam. Additionally, they fabricated documents using the names of prominent political figures, including outgoing Uduma MLA C.H. Kunhambu and Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden. The fake documents were allegedly created at a computer center operated by the Vargheses, with Kallatra providing details and finalizing the prints. The arrested individuals have been charged with forgery under Sections 336 and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. This case highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat illegal organ trade networks operating through fraudulent documentation in the region.
