Thiruvananthapuram Water Supply Disrupted May 15-16 for Maintenance

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has announced a temporary disruption of water supply in Thiruvananthapuram city, scheduled from 8 a.m. on May 15, 2026, to 8 a.m. on May 16, 2026. This interruption is necessary to conduct urgent maintenance work, including the installation of a new transformer and other essential repairs at the 72 mld and 75 mld water treatment plants located in Aruvikkara. Additionally, a damaged valve on a pipeline passing through Vellayambalam will be replaced during this period. The announcement specifies that water supply will be totally affected in numerous areas, including Valiathura, Ambalathara, Thampanoor, Palayam, and Kowdiar, among others. Partial disruptions are expected in areas such as Paruthippara, Muttada, Kesavadasapuram, Medical College, and Kudappanakunnu. Residents in the affected zones are advised to store sufficient water in advance to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the shutdown. This planned maintenance aims to ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of the city's water infrastructure.
