Tesla is set to complete the construction of its first overseas factory dedicated to producing Megapack lithium-ion battery units in Shanghai by the end of this month. According to a report by the state-owned Shanghai Observer, the facility is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of next year. This rapid development occurs just seven months after construction activities began in May within the Lin-gang Special Area, which also hosts Tesla’s existing Shanghai Gigafactory.
