Tencent Upgrades Yuanbao AI with Self-Developed Hunyuan T1 Model
Tencent has officially upgraded its AI chatbot, Yuanbao, by integrating two new models: the self-developed deep reasoning model Hunyuan T1 and DeepSeek V3-0324. Announced early Monday, this update significantly enhances Yuanbao's capabilities in code generation, mathematical reasoning, and long-text processing. Hunyuan T1, which launched on Saturday, achieved a score of 87.2 on the Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU) benchmark. This performance surpasses DeepSeek-R1’s score of 84 but remains below OpenAI-related competitor Qwen-1’s score of 89.3. In terms of pricing, Tencent has adopted a competitive strategy aligned with DeepSeek’s approach. The Hunyuan T1 model charges RMB 1 ($0.14) per million input tokens and RMB 4 ($0.55) per million output tokens. While this matches DeepSeek-R1’s daytime input rate, it is higher than R1’s discounted nighttime rate of RMB 0.25 ($0.034) per million tokens. This move underscores Tencent's commitment to strengthening its position in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence market by offering high-performance, cost-effective solutions for developers and enterprise users.
