Telangana to Inaugurate Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans on June 2
The Telangana state government is preparing for the statewide inauguration of Indira Mahila Shakti (IMS) Bhavans on June 2, coinciding with Telangana Formation Day. These facilities are designed to serve as hubs for the economic and social empowerment of rural women, specifically supporting District Women’s Federations and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP). The project involves constructing new buildings in 22 districts at an estimated cost of ₹110 crore, with each structure costing ₹5 crore and spanning approximately 15,000 square feet. While ten erstwhile districts already possess such infrastructure, construction is complete in 17 of the new locations, with the remainder in final stages. Equipped with modern amenities, these centers will facilitate administrative activities, skill development, entrepreneurship, and marketing support. Officials assert that the initiative will enhance income-generation opportunities by improving market access for SHG products. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya highlighted the critical role of women in the rural economy, describing the buildings as symbols of progress and a potential national model.
