Telangana DCA Seizes Suspected Oxytocin Injections from Cattle Feed Shops

The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) conducted raids on two cattle feed shops in Patancheru, Hyderabad, on May 7, 2026, seizing stocks of suspected Oxytocin injections intended for illegal use in dairy animals. Officials targeted Sri Renuka Cattle Feed and Laxmi Krishna Cattle Feed, where proprietors were found storing unlabelled transparent bottles containing the hormone. At Sri Renuka Cattle Feed, 40 bottles of 200 ml each were confiscated from proprietor R. Saikrishna Goud. At Laxmi Krishna Cattle Feed, 120 bottles of 250 ml each were seized from proprietor Mylaram Sai Ram. The illegal administration of Oxytocin to cattle is commonly associated with artificially inducing milk let-down and increasing milk production, posing potential health risks to consumers. The DCA stated that the shops were illegally stocking these injections for sale and misuse. Samples of the seized substances have been collected for laboratory analysis to confirm their contents. Further investigations are underway, and authorities have announced that strict legal action will be initiated against the involved parties under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
