Telangana CEO Directs 90% Elector Mapping Progress Ahead of ECI's SIR Announcement

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana, C Sudharshan Reddy, has directed district officials to achieve 90% progress in the mapping of electors by the end of May 2026. This directive comes as the Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to shortly announce the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. During a video conference with District Collectors and Electoral Registration Officers, the CEO emphasized the need for Booth Level Officers to visit slums, gated communities, and residential associations to ensure accurate data collection. Officials were instructed to involve local representatives, ration shop dealers, and self-help groups to accelerate the process. Key focus areas include rectifying details for deceased voters, migrants, and those who have permanently shifted residences, as well as addressing wrong mappings immediately. The CEO also mandated the setup of help desks to assist voters and cautioned officials against sharing sensitive information or OTPs with unauthorized persons. While Booth Level Agents can assist in identifying locations, their role is strictly limited. This proactive measure aims to streamline the upcoming electoral revision process and ensure the integrity of the voter list in Telangana.
