Tamil Nadu Election 2026: Activists Urge Voters to Reject Cash for Votes

In the lead-up to the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, resident associations and activist groups in Tambaram and Thiruneermalai have launched grassroots campaigns to combat electoral bribery. Specifically, in areas such as East Tambaram, Chitlapakkam, and Thiruneermalai, volunteers from the group Chitlapakkam Rising are conducting door-to-door visits and displaying posters under the slogan "My Vote Is Not For Sale." The initiative aims to persuade voters to keep their consciences and palms clean by refusing cash offers from political candidates. Sunil Jayaram, a core volunteer, emphasized that citizens should evaluate candidates strictly based on their credentials and track records rather than monetary incentives. The campaign also encourages voters to reject candidates involved in such unethical practices.
