Tamil Nadu Achieves 99.92% Pass Rate in CBSE Class 10; Students Opt for Second Math Exam

Tamil Nadu has recorded a remarkable 99.92% pass rate in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 board examinations, marking a slight increase from the previous year's 99.86%. This performance significantly surpasses the national average of 93.7%. Girls outperformed boys with a 99.96% pass rate compared to 99.90%, while the Chennai region secured the third position nationally. A notable development this year is the introduction of a second chance for students to improve their scores. Following the announcement of results, many students expressed dissatisfaction with their mathematics grades, citing the difficulty of the question paper, particularly tricky five-mark questions that reduced the number of perfect scores. Consequently, a large number of students are preparing to take the supplementary mathematics examination. Educators note that this trend adds stress and eliminates vacations for teachers, yet students remain driven to achieve higher marks, often above 95%, regardless of admission impacts. Schools have been assisting parents and students in navigating this new process. Candidates interested in the second exam must register through their schools by April 20, with specific dates to be announced later.
