Surveillance Intensified in Manachanallur Amid Voter Bribery Allegations

Election authorities in Tiruchi district have significantly increased surveillance measures in the Manachanallur constituency following numerous complaints regarding the distribution of cash and gifts to voters. District Election Officer and Collector V. Saravanan announced the formation of additional flying squads and video surveillance teams to strengthen vigilance. Over the past week, officials seized 40,552 gift items, primarily utensils, valued at approximately ₹51.56 lakh. Furthermore, 14 cases have been registered based on inquiries into 17 specific complaints. A joint inspection by the Returning Officer and police identified 51 polling booths across 20 stations in Manachanallur as vulnerable, prompting the deployment of central police forces and flag marches in these areas. Similar vulnerability assessments were conducted in neighboring constituencies, including Srirangam, Lalgudi, Thuraiyur, Tiruchi West, Tiruchi East, Tiruverumbur, and Musiri, where static surveillance teams and flying squads are actively monitoring the situation under Election Commission directives. These actions aim to ensure free and fair elections by curbing illegal inducements and maintaining strict security protocols in identified high-risk zones.
