B. Nithya, a postgraduate student in the English Department at Dr. Umayal Ramanathan College for Women in Karaikudi, has achieved a historic milestone in Indian athletics. She secured the Silver Medal in the Hammer Throw event at the Series Number 5 Athletics Meet, which was held at the War Heroes Stadium in Sangrur, Punjab. This accomplishment marks a significant breakthrough as Nithya becomes the first athlete from South India to win a silver medal in the throws category at the Indian Series.
