Sriperumbudur Police Arrest Suspect, Seize 16 Stolen Motorcycles

The Sriperumbudur Police in Tamil Nadu have arrested a 25-year-old suspect, identified as Subash, for his alleged involvement in a series of two-wheeler thefts across multiple districts. The arrest followed the formation of a special investigative team after repeated complaints regarding motorcycle thefts emerged from the Sunguvarchatram area in the Kancheepuram district. Through sustained surveillance and investigation, authorities apprehended the suspect in the Ranipet district. The inquiry revealed that Subash had initially stolen a motorcycle parked in Sunguvarchatram on March 15. Further investigation linked him to numerous similar theft cases registered in Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Vellore, and Tirupattur districts. During the operation, police successfully recovered 16 stolen two-wheelers from the accused's possession. This significant seizure highlights the effectiveness of the specialized police unit in addressing property crime trends in the region. The case underscores ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat vehicle theft networks operating across district boundaries in the state.
