Srikakulam Turpu Kapu Leaders Unhappy with TDP Party Post Distribution

Leaders of the Turpu Kapu community in Srikakulam district have expressed significant displeasure regarding the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) recent distribution of key party positions ahead of local body elections. While the TDP high command appointed several prominent leaders from the neighboring Vizianagaram district to influential roles, including Gantyada Sridevi to the politburo and Kalisetti Appala Naidu as national spokesperson, Srikakulam leaders feel their community has been sidelined. Despite the Turpu Kapu community constituting the largest population group in the undivided Srikakulam district, they allege that the party has favored Kalinga and Velama communities instead. Surangi Mohana Rao, President of the Srikakulam District Turpu Kapu Sangham, stated that the community is being gradually marginalized in regional politics, noting a lack of representation even in nominated posts. He announced plans to convene a meeting soon to demand political justice and empowerment commensurate with their demographic strength, inviting leaders from all political parties to address these grievances.
