Shengshu Technology Unveils Subject Consistency Feature for Vidu AI Video Model
Shengshu Technology, a Beijing-based AI startup backed by Tsinghua University, has introduced a new subject consistency feature for its video generation model, Vidu. This update, released just over a month after Vidu's global launch, ensures that characters and objects remain visually consistent throughout generated videos, addressing a common limitation in AI video production. The company also doubled the model's maximum video length to 32 seconds. CEO Tang Jiayu highlighted the technology's potential to significantly reduce production costs in professional creative fields like animation, claiming a 97.5% cost reduction in one case. Shengshu is positioning itself as a key competitor in the global AI video market, which has expanded rapidly following OpenAI's Sora demonstrations. The company operates on a business model focused on SaaS subscriptions and API access, reporting stronger revenue from business clients than consumers. Since its July launch, Vidu has attracted tens of thousands of global API requests. Shengshu recently secured hundreds of millions of yuan in Pre-A financing from investors including Baidu and Ant Group, underscoring the intense competition among Chinese tech firms in the generative AI sector.
