Seven Arrested in Hyderabad for Interstate Ganja Smuggling with 400 kg Seized

Police in Hyderabad, India, have dismantled an interstate ganja smuggling racket, arresting seven individuals and seizing 400 kilograms of the banned substance. The operation was conducted jointly by the Special Operations Team of Kukatpally Zone and Patancheru police near Muthangi on the Outer Ring Road. The suspects, primarily residents of Maharashtra, were transporting the contraband from Odisha to Maharashtra using a trolley truck and an escorting SUV. The ganja was concealed beneath empty vegetable plastic trays to evade detection. Authorities also confiscated the vehicles and six mobile phones, with the total seized assets valued at approximately ₹2 crore. Two key figures, including a supplier from Odisha and a receiver from Maharashtra, remain at large. Investigations reveal that the network was coordinated across state lines, with one arrested individual acting as a mediator. The police are continuing their efforts to trace the absconding accused and identify other members involved in this illicit transportation network. This bust highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking routes connecting eastern and western Indian states through major transit hubs like Hyderabad.
