SCEKL 2025 Concludes with Strong Outcomes for ASEAN’s Digital Future
The Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur (SCEKL) 2025, organized by Malaysia’s Ministry of Digital from September 17 to 19, successfully convened 10,700 participants, including city leaders and industry innovators from across ASEAN. Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, the event reinforced Malaysia’s commitment to a people-first digital agenda under its ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship and AI Nation 2030 vision. Key outcomes included business matching sessions generating MYR414.68 million in export opportunities and the active participation of delegates from 28 ASEAN cities. Significant collaborations were established, such as MoUs between Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), Ericsson, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to advance AI infrastructure and civil service upskilling. Additionally, MDEC and Dell partnered on Climate AI solutions for George Town. The City Leaders Roundtable achieved consensus on forming an AI Cities Network and developing an AI Cities Playbook. With 146 speakers and 126 exhibitors addressing themes like digital governance and citizen-centric innovation, SCEKL 2025 positioned Kuala Lumpur as a regional hub for smart city dialogue, driving inclusive and sustainable urban development throughout Southeast Asia.
