Sarath Kumar Criticizes DMK: More TASMAC Shops Than Health Centers in Tamil Nadu

BJP leader and actor Sarath Kumar strongly criticized the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu during a campaign rally in Sattur. Speaking in support of state party president Nainar Nagenthran, Kumar highlighted a stark disparity in public infrastructure, claiming that the state has more Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) liquor shops than Primary Health Centres (PHCs). He cited statistics indicating one PHC serves every 30,000 people, whereas one TASMAC outlet exists for every 15,000 residents, making alcohol more accessible than essential medicines. Furthermore, Kumar attacked the government's financial management, alleging that the DMK administration borrowed over ₹5 lakh crore in just five years, matching the total debt accumulated since independence. He questioned the utilization of these funds and accused the government of failing to deliver on industrial memoranda of understanding, resulting in no new industrial units or job creation. Concluding his address, Kumar urged voters to dethrone the DMK, framing the election as a necessary corrective measure against alleged administrative failure and prioritization of revenue from liquor sales over public health and economic development.
