Salem and Namakkal Districts Report High Pass Rates in Class 12 Exams

The Tamil Nadu State Board has released the Class 12 examination results for May 2026, highlighting strong academic performance in the Salem and Namakkal districts. Salem district achieved a pass percentage of 96.61%, securing the 14th rank in the state, which marks a 2.29% increase from the previous year. Notably, female students in Salem outperformed males with a 97.71% pass rate. A significant highlight was the 100% success rate among 21 prisoners from Salem Central Prison who appeared for the exams. Meanwhile, Namakkal district recorded a higher pass percentage of 97.04%, placing it 10th in the state. In Namakkal, girls also demonstrated superior performance with a 97.76% pass rate compared to boys at 96.29%. Both districts saw numerous schools achieving centum results, with private institutions generally outperforming government-aided and government schools. The data reflects a broader trend of improving educational outcomes in these regions, with specific attention given to the inclusion and success of differently-abled students and incarcerated individuals in the mainstream examination process.
