Rookies RocHaus, an entertainment venue located in downtown West Dundee, is set to close at the end of April 2026. Bob Karas, the local restaurateur who has operated the venue since 2023, announced he will not renew his lease due to challenges with competition and lack of profitability. Karas cited difficulties in booking acts because of radius clauses and competition from free outdoor community concerts as primary factors. He also noted that managing a live music venue did not align with his expertise, despite attempts to leverage his nearby Squire restaurant for synergy. The property, owned by Kevin Krak, will revert to him upon lease expiration on April 30. Krak, who originally opened the RocHaus in 2017 after extensive renovations, stated he would evaluate the building's condition before deciding its future use. This closure follows the recent shutdown of Bleuroot restaurant next door. The historic building, originally the Crystal Theater from 1910, features a capacity for 400 patrons but suffers from inadequate downtown parking and a lack of theater-style seating.
