Rapido Launches Electric Buggy Service at Bengaluru City Railway Station

Ride-hailing aggregator Rapido has introduced a pilot electric buggy service at the KSR Bengaluru City railway station to streamline passenger transit and alleviate post-travel congestion. The initiative allows commuters to travel directly from train platforms to a designated, organized pickup area where autorickshaws and cabs are readily available. Passengers are charged a flat fare of ₹12 per seat, a rate fixed by railway authorities. Notably, Rapido states that this fee is fully redeemable against future rides on their platform, effectively making the service free for users. To enhance commuter comfort, the company has established a dedicated, air-conditioned Rapido Lounge where travelers can wait for their connecting transport while escaping the heat. Additionally, on-ground staff are deployed to assist passengers with luggage handling and navigation, ensuring a safe and supported experience. This service aims to bridge the gap between platform arrival and final onward transportation, addressing common challenges faced by travelers in busy Indian railway hubs. The launch represents a collaborative effort between private tech companies and public infrastructure authorities to improve urban mobility and passenger convenience in Bengaluru.
