Railway Ministry Approves Extension of Kacheguda-Murudeshwar Express to Kumta

The Indian Railway Ministry has officially approved a proposal submitted by the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited to extend the operational route of the Kacheguda-Murudeshwar-Kacheguda Express. This significant infrastructure update will see trains numbered 12789 and 12790 extended further to reach Kumta in the Uttara Kannada district. Under the new schedule, Train Number 12789, now designated as the Kacheguda-Kumta Express, is set to depart from Kacheguda station at 6:05 a.m. and arrive at Kumta by 2:30 p.m. on the following day. This extension aims to improve rail connectivity for passengers traveling between Telangana and coastal Karnataka. However, the report notes that the railways have not yet issued an official notification regarding the revised timings for the return journey or other operational details associated with this extension. The decision marks a strategic enhancement to the regional rail network, facilitating easier access for residents and tourists in the Uttara Kannada region.
