Python Developers Survey 2026 Launched by PSF and JetBrains
The Python Software Foundation (PSF) and JetBrains have officially launched the ninth iteration of the Python Developers Survey for 2026. Intentionally released in January to ensure data collection and results are published within the same calendar year, the survey aims to capture the current state of the Python language and its ecosystem. By comparing findings with previous years, the community can identify emerging trends and understand Python's evolution. The organizers emphasize global representation through extensive localization efforts, offering the survey in eight languages including Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. A Promotion Kit has also been created to help community members spread awareness via social media and local networks. Participation is open to all developers, taking approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. To incentivize participation, JetBrains will randomly select 20 winners who complete the entire survey to receive a $100 Amazon Gift Card or local equivalent. The aggregated results will be published publicly after the survey concludes. The PSF encourages further community engagement through their discussion forums for additional promotional ideas.
