Punjab Police Bust Narcotics and Illegal Arms Module in Hoshiarpur, Arrest Four

The Punjab Police announced a significant breakthrough on April 20, 2026, by dismantling an inter-state and foreign-linked narcotics and illegal arms module in Hoshiarpur district. During the operation, authorities arrested four individuals and recovered substantial contraband, including 9.925 kilograms of heroin, two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines, and 40 live cartridges. According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were serving as local handlers for foreign-based gangsters involved in drug trafficking and the supply of illegal weapons. An First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Garhshankar police station in connection with the case. The police are currently conducting further investigations to establish both forward and backward linkages within the criminal network, with the ultimate goal of dismantling the entire operation. This incident highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement in Punjab to combat cross-border smuggling activities and organized crime syndicates operating within the region.
