Dominican President Luis Abinader joined PriceSmart executives to inaugurate a new warehouse club in La Romana, marking a US$21.1 million investment that expands the retailer’s footprint in the Dominican Republic. The new facility, located on the La Romana–Higüey highway, spans 6,205 square meters and features nearly 4,000 square meters of retail space, along with 309 parking spots and services including a pharmacy and optical center. The project has created approximately 125 direct jobs, primarily for local residents, thereby strengthening economic activity in the eastern region. Built to EDGE sustainability standards, the club incorporates solar panels, LED lighting, and energy-efficient systems. It offers over 1,600 products, with more than 700 sourced from Dominican vendors, highlighting a commitment to supporting local suppliers. This opening brings PriceSmart’s total to six clubs in the country and 57 across Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, the company announced community initiatives through the PriceSmart Foundation, such as food donations and youth education programs, reaffirming its dedication to social development and long-term investment in the nation.
