Postal Voting Centres Established for Essential Service Voters in Thanjavur

In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, Postal Voting Centres (PVCs) have been established at the offices of Election Returning Officers (EROs) across all eight assembly constituencies in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. This initiative aims to facilitate essential service voters, including employees of the Southern Railway, media organizations, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd., Fire and Rescue Services, and the Prisons and Rehabilitation Department, allowing them to exercise their franchise before the main polling day. District Election Officer and Collector B. Priyanka Pankajam announced that eligible voters who opted for postal ballots via Form 12D can visit their respective ERO offices on April 17, 18, and 19. Voters are required to bring their filled Form 12D and Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to cast their votes. The affected constituencies include Thiruvidaimaruthur, Kumbakonam, Papansam, Thiruvaiyaru, Thanjavur, Orathanadu, Peravurani, and Pattukottai. Additionally, the DEO recently inspected ballot counting preparations at Government Arts College in Kumbakonam, where votes from three segments will be counted on May 4. This administrative measure ensures that critical workforce members can participate in the democratic process without disrupting essential public services during the election period.
