Police Probe Vishu Poster Controversy Involving Lord Krishna in Kerala's Malappuram

Police in Malappuram, Kerala, have launched an investigation into allegations against several restaurants in Edakkara and Kottakkal regarding controversial Vishu greeting posters. The posters, circulated on social media, depicted the Hindu deity Lord Krishna alongside chicken mandi, a non-vegetarian dish. This incident follows a similar controversy in Alappuzha district, where arrests were made. Aji Thomas, a BJP district committee member, filed a complaint alleging that these images are part of a broader attempt to hurt religious sentiments and disrupt communal harmony. While police have registered cases against unidentified persons, they stated it is too early to determine if restaurant owners created the content or if it was fabricated by vested interests to incite tension. The accused restaurant owners have denied involvement in producing the posters and apologized for any offense caused to the community celebrating Vishu. Authorities are currently questioning the owners and working to identify those responsible for creating and circulating the inflammatory material.
