Police Arrest 10 Suspects in Murder of B.Tech Student in Hyderabad

Hyderabad police have arrested ten individuals, including a juvenile, for the pre-planned murder of Bommana Yavan, also known as Akhil, a 21-year-old third-year B.Tech student. The incident occurred on the night of May 7, 2026, in Indiranagar Colony, Medibavi, under the Chilkalguda police station jurisdiction. Investigators revealed that the attack was motivated by a love triangle, as the prime accused held a grudge against the victim for his relationship with a young woman the accused intended to marry. Approximately ten attackers ambushed the victim around 9:45 p.m., inflicting fatal injuries with knives and other weapons before fleeing. The case was registered following a complaint by the victim's father. During the investigation, authorities recovered the murder weapon, blood-stained clothes, an electric scooter, and mobile phones. The arrests were conducted under the supervision of Rakshitha Krishna Murthy, DCP of Secunderabad Zone. Police have issued strict warnings against retaliatory violence and are monitoring social media platforms to prevent the spread of provocative content or incitement of unrest among supporters of either side.
