Polish company SGE, part of the MS Galleon Group, has signed two strategic agreements with Spain’s ENUSA Industrias Avanzadas and GNF ENUSA Nuclear Fuel (GENUSA) to strengthen the nuclear fuel supply chain for the BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR). These contracts support SGE’s initiative to deploy a fleet of BWRX-300 reactors across Central and Eastern Europe, with a flagship project in Poland targeting commissioning by 2032. The agreement with ENUSA focuses on developing a procurement roadmap for low enriched uranium and its components, while the deal with GENUSA provides consultancy, training, and engineering support for fuel supply operations. GENUSA, a joint venture between Global Nuclear Fuel and ENUSA, will leverage the licensed GNF2 fuel design, which has a proven track record in Europe. This move reinforces the industrial foundations necessary for large-scale SMR deployment, addressing critical fuel readiness issues. The partnerships aim to create a robust ecosystem for executing long-term nuclear projects, utilizing established technology and manufacturing capabilities in Juzbado, Spain, to support future European markets including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania.
