Researchers at the University of Oxford have created an artificial intelligence tool capable of predicting heart failure risk up to five years before symptoms appear. In a study involving 72,000 patients across nine NHS trusts in England, the AI analyzed routine cardiac CT scans to detect invisible signs of unhealthy fat and inflammation around the heart. The technology achieved 86% accuracy in identifying high-risk individuals, who were found to be 20 times more likely to develop the condition than low-risk patients.
