Over 4,700 Web Cameras Installed to Monitor Polling Stations in Erode District

In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for April 23, 2026, authorities in the Erode district of Tamil Nadu have installed a total of 4,758 web cameras across polling stations in eight Assembly constituencies. District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy inspected the webcasting arrangements on April 18, verifying camera installations both inside and outside polling booths, including at the Ashram Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Kollampalayam. The initiative aims to ensure transparent monitoring of the electoral process. Centralized monitoring facilities have been established at the Collectorate, allowing officials to oversee all polling stations remotely on election days. Additionally, webcasting infrastructure has been deployed at the offices of Returning Officers in each constituency to supervise local activities. The surveillance system also covers the postal ballot process for essential staff and police personnel, which commenced on April 18. These measures reflect a comprehensive effort to maintain integrity and security during the voting period, leveraging technology to provide real-time oversight of both in-person and postal voting procedures throughout the district.
