Ondo Community Appeals to Governor Over Alleged Plot to Dethrone Monarch
Residents of the Jinrinwo community in Ondo State's Ilaje Local Government Area have urgently appealed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to intervene in an alleged plot to illegally remove their monarch, Oba Olawole Ajimosun. The Jinrinwo Descendants Union accused certain government officials of planning to install Jackson Okorisa as the new Olu of Jinrinwo, describing him as a stranger unknown to the community. The union highlighted that Oba Ajimosun was duly appointed in 2021 and his chieftaincy was officially recognized by the state government in August 2022 following the Ajama Commission's recommendations. Although the incumbent monarch has filed a lawsuit at the High Court in Okitipupa challenging the removal process, the community claims the state government is proceeding with the installation despite the pending case. In response, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, the Ondo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, denied the allegations. He asserted that no candidate was imposed on the community, emphasizing that due process was followed and that the government approved the people's choice. Takuro reassured that the administration aims to avoid crisis in the governor's kinsmen's community.
