Odisha Police Arrest Five for Lynching GRP Constable Amid Political Unrest

The Odisha Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the lynching of a Government Railway Police (GRP) constable, Soumya Ranjan Swain, near Bhubaneswar. The incident occurred on May 7, 2026, after locals alleged that Swain and an acquaintance attempted to molest two women who had fallen from their scooter. While the associate escaped, a mob assaulted Swain, who was declared dead upon arrival at Capital Hospital.
