NRW Greens Launch Citizen Idea Collection for 2027 State Election Program

One year prior to the 2027 state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Green Party has initiated an ideas tour to gather citizen input for their election platform. Running through April and May, this campaign allows residents to submit suggestions both online and at physical locations such as market squares. These contributions will inform program discussions scheduled for November. State party leader Yazgülü Zeybek reported that 340 ideas were collected in the initial days, covering key issues like energy transition, public transport, education, affordable housing, and democratic security. The party’s state ministers are actively participating in on-site discussions. Concurrently, internal leadership dynamics are being addressed, with Zeybek and co-chairman Tim Achtermeyer seeking re-election at the upcoming June state party conference in Troisdorf. While the party praises Deputy Head of Government Mona Neubaur as a strong personality, it has not yet confirmed if she will serve as the top candidate for Prime Minister again. This initiative highlights the Greens' strategy to integrate grassroots feedback into their political agenda while stabilizing their leadership structure ahead of the crucial electoral cycle in Germany's most populous state.
