NIO Battery Swaps Surpass 90 Million Milestone with Daily Average Exceeding 100,000
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO has announced a significant operational milestone, revealing that its battery swap service has exceeded 90 million total swaps. The company reported an average of over 100,000 swaps per day, indicating accelerating adoption rates. Notably, while it took 1,506 days to achieve the first 10 million swaps, the recent increment from 80 million to 90 million was accomplished in just 100 days. To support this infrastructure, NIO has deployed 3,539 battery swap stations across 550 cities in China, including more than 1,000 locations on highways. Cumulatively, these swaps have delivered 4.75 billion kWh of electricity, an amount sufficient to power approximately 2.37 million households for a year. Furthermore, NIO highlighted the economic benefits for users, stating that the service has saved around 23.7 billion yuan ($3.33 billion) in fuel costs compared to conventional refueling methods. This achievement positions the company close to reaching the 100 million swap mark, underscoring the growing viability and scalability of its battery-as-a-service model within the competitive EV market.
