Nida Khan Remanded in Judicial Custody Until May 24 in TCS Forced Conversion Case

A court in Nashik, Maharashtra, has remanded Nida Khan, a 27-year-old software engineer and prime accused in the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) sexual exploitation and forced conversion case, to judicial custody until May 24. Khan, who is currently pregnant, was produced before Additional Sessions Judge K.G. Joshi after her police remand expired. The police did not seek further police remand during the hearing, resulting in her transfer to Nashik Road central jail. Khan was arrested on May 7 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after evading authorities since complaints emerged from TCS staffers in Nashik. She faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for sexual harassment and defamation, as well as the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, given that the complainant belongs to a Scheduled Caste. Allegations include forced religious conversion to Islam, molestation, and mental harassment. A Special Investigation Team is currently probing nine FIRs related to the case. Previously, the court rejected Khan's anticipatory bail plea, citing evidence of a systematic plan to brainwash the victim.
