Netanyahu Expels Spain from Gaza Coordination Centre Citing Hostility

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially removed Spain from the Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) in Kiryat Gat, accusing Madrid of waging a diplomatic war against Israel. The decision follows repeated criticisms from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s government regarding Israel’s military conduct in Gaza and its recognition of the state of Palestine. Netanyahu stated that Spain had defamed Israeli soldiers and chosen to stand against Israel, rendering it unfit for a constructive role in implementing the US-led peace plan. Foreign Minister Gideon Saar reinforced this stance, alleging that Spain’s leadership harbors an obsessive anti-Israel bias and has leveled blood libels against the IDF. The CMCC, established under former US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan, monitors the ceasefire and facilitates humanitarian aid in Gaza. Tensions have escalated further due to Spain’s opposition to the recent US-Israel conflict with Iran, including closing airspace to US warplanes. Despite the nominal ceasefire, reports indicate continued Israeli attacks and restricted aid flow in Gaza, highlighting the fragile security situation and deepening diplomatic rifts between Israel and key European nations.
