Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NETA Auto announced on Sunday the commencement of sales for the hatchback version of its Neta S mid-size sedan. Crucially, the company revealed plans to begin mass production of a variant utilizing a skateboard chassis sourced from battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) in the fourth quarter of this year. This development marks the Neta S as the world’s first production car to feature an architecture that integrates battery cells, transmissions, radiators, and other components into a flat-floored wheeled chassis. The integrated Cell-to-Pack (CTP) system significantly reduces component count and manufacturing costs. The vehicle offers impressive performance metrics, with extended-range hybrid versions achieving 1,200 kilometers and all-electric versions reaching 640 kilometers. Additionally equipped with CATL’s Shenxing fast-charging battery, the car gains 210 kilometers of range after just ten minutes of charging. Priced between RMB 159,900 and RMB 209,900, this launch highlights a strategic collaboration aimed at delivering affordable, high-efficiency EVs to the market, leveraging CATL’s technological advancements in battery integration.
