Mysuru ZP CEO Directs Banks Against Deducting Gruha Lakshmi Funds for Loan Repayments

S. Yukesh Kumar, the Chief Executive Officer of the Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, has issued a strict directive to banks prohibiting the deduction of funds from the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme for loan repayments. Speaking at a District Guarantee Implementation Authority committee meeting, he emphasized that beneficiaries must receive the full assistance amount on humanitarian grounds. Additionally, officials were instructed to immediately halt payments to deceased beneficiaries, with Vice-President Shivakumar suggesting technological solutions to automate this process and recover wrongly transferred funds. The meeting also addressed eligibility criteria, clarifying that income tax payers are excluded from the scheme, while ensuring eligible individuals previously omitted are included. District Guarantee Schemes Authority president Arun Kumar urged officials to ensure all eligible residents access the five guarantee schemes and highlighted the importance of BPL cards for subsidized healthcare. Other administrative updates included the reopening of the BPL card application portal, plans to install RO water units at bus stands, and statistics on the Gruha Jyoti electricity scheme, where approximately 60% of registered beneficiaries in Mysuru currently receive zero electricity bills.
