Motorola Solutions has acquired Hyper, a Toronto and San Francisco-based startup specializing in AI-driven screening for non-emergency 911 calls. The acquisition, announced shortly after Hyper emerged from stealth mode less than a year ago, aims to enhance Motorola’s public safety platforms, particularly its Assist offering. Hyper’s technology utilizes agentic AI to listen to callers, ask follow-up questions in over 30 languages, and route emergencies appropriately, claiming to resolve up to 75 percent of non-urgent inquiries autonomously. This integration seeks to address critical staffing shortages in dispatch centers by reducing wait times and ensuring human operators focus on high-priority incidents.
