Momenta Secures Deals with Toyota and GM, Plans Global Expansion and Robotaxi Launch
Chinese autonomous driving technology provider Momenta announced significant business milestones at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show on April 24. The company revealed contracts to supply assisted driving technologies to over 130 car models, counting major global automakers like General Motors, Toyota, and SAIC-Volkswagen among its clients. Currently, Momenta’s advanced driver assistance systems are installed in 26 models, with projections reaching 300,000 equipped vehicles by late May 2025. CEO Cao Xudong highlighted Momenta as the first Chinese firm to deploy highway and city navigation features internationally, including in Germany, France, and Japan. Looking ahead, the startup plans to launch an end-to-end neural network AI model later this year to enhance self-learning simulation environments without relying on high-definition maps. Furthermore, Momenta intends to commence fully driverless passenger transport operations in Shanghai by the end of 2025. This move positions the company as a direct competitor to established robotaxi services such as Waymo, Pony.ai, and WeRide, marking a strategic push into both global markets and local autonomous mobility services.
