Minister Sekarbabu Outlines Housing and Traffic Priorities for Harbour Constituency

P.K. Sekarbabu, the Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments and sitting MLA for the Harbour Assembly constituency in Chennai, has outlined his key development priorities during an interview with The Hindu. His roadmap focuses heavily on urban infrastructure and social welfare, specifically targeting roadside dwellers and traffic congestion. Sekarbabu announced plans to construct 3,000 multi-storey housing units and highlighted the ongoing construction of a multi-level car parking facility at Broadway, which aims to alleviate traffic in areas like Sowcarpet. He detailed past achievements, including the completion of 1,470 housing units and the establishment of training institutes that have served over 6,300 residents. Additionally, the minister addressed public concerns regarding stray cattle, noting that existing shelters house 1,200 animals with plans for expansion to fully resolve the issue. Beyond housing and traffic, Sekarbabu emphasized improvements in essential services, seeking to provide uninterrupted electricity, safe drinking water, and proper sewer systems. He also pledged to increase the number of educational institutions, learning centres, and libraries within the constituency, alongside new healthcare facilities such as dialysis centres and physiotherapy units.
