Minister Announces Plans to Transform Kurnool into World-Class Sports Hub

T.G. Bharat Gupta, the Minister for Food Processing and Industries, announced that the Andhra Pradesh state government is prioritizing the transformation of the Kurnool stadium into a world-class sporting facility equipped with advanced infrastructure and training amenities. During a visit to a summer coaching camp alongside Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman Ravi Naidu, the Minister interacted with athletes, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting sportspersons from grassroots levels to international competitions. He clarified that there are no plans to relocate the Kurnool sports hostel; instead, it will be strengthened with improved facilities. The Minister also highlighted ongoing upgrades to city parks to promote public health and fitness. MP Nagaraju reinforced these efforts by announcing an allocation of ₹15 lakh from MPLADS funds for stadium maintenance and development. Additionally, SAAP Chairman Ravi Naidu noted that 50 summer sports camps are being organized across the district to help youth excel in national and international arenas. The event underscored the administration's focus on leveraging Kurnool's strong sporting culture to produce elite athletes while encouraging broader community participation in physical activities.
